General Details

Also commonly called Scots Pine, Sylvestris Pine is a softwood that finds its most popular uses in general construction, flooring and joinery.

The heartwood of Sylvestris Pine ranges from yellow-brown to reddish-brown, while the sapwood can be creamy white or pale yellow. It has a relatively fine texture, and the grain usually falls in straight patterns. The summerwood is darker and denser, causing the growth rings to be more prominently marked than most. The knots in this timber tend to be grouped, and the wood is resinous.
